This year is filled with many new movies of all different genres being released. Here’s what’s coming soon to theaters and more upcoming this summer. 

In theaters soon will be Challengers on April 26th, The Fall Guy on May 3rd, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on May 8th.

Challengers is in the sports romance genre starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. This film is set following the love triangle between tennis champions who must face off against each other, despite their close friendship in the past. This film is directed by Guadagnino and written by Justin Kuritzkes.

The Fall Guy is an action-comedy film directed by David Leitch, written by Drew Pearce, and stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. This film is loosely based on a television series called Challengers, that ran in the 1980’s about stunt performers. The premise of this movie will be a stunt performer doubling for an actor who went missing in order to save his ex-girlfriends first directing project from being shut down.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is an action science fiction film directed by Wes Ball and Josh Friedman. This is the fourth film continuing the story of the previous 3 films in the Planet of the Apes series. This is part of the reboot series making it the 10th Planet of the Apes movie including the originals. This film is set 300 years after War for the Planet of the Apes, in which humans have fallen to a feral and primitive society while the apes have exceeded beyond their primitive lifestyle.

Coming up later this summer are Inside out 2 on June 14th, Deadpool 3 on July 26th, and Kraven the Hunter on August 24th.

Inside Out 2 is the upcoming sequel to Pixar’s animated coming of age film Inside Out, featuring a young girl named Riley and her five emotions: Joy, Fear, Sadness, Anger, and Disgust. Part two of this film will show Riley growing into puberty and experiencing a wave of new emotions such as anxiety. This film is written by Meg LeFauve and directed by Kelsey Mann.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the third film in the Deadpool series, based on the Marvel Comics characters Deadpool and Wolverine, and produced by Marvel Studios, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Brought together from different universes, the two are set on a mission by the Time Variance Authority. This film is written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick Zeb Wells, and directed by Shawn Levy.

Kraven the Hunter is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics Spider-Man villain, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment. This is the fifth installment of Sony’s Spider-Man universe, following the two Venom films, Morbius, and Madam Web. This film is directed by J. C. Chandor, screenplay done by Richard Wenk, written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, starring Russell Crowe as Kraven.
