Before I went to high school I thought my freshman year would be the best year and there would be so much happening. That there would be many events and many opportunities to do the things I like and much more. I thought it would be like the movies had shown, but then I found out that it was nothing like that—and would never be like that—unless I made it that way.
You would think that freshman year would be the hypest year in high school since you’re new to the school and people would do their best to make it the best year ever. Little did we know, it’s not what you would think it is. It’s just like every other year of school: boring and little to nothing to do at school.
The first day of freshman year I was so excited to see and meet new people thinking that it would be the best day of my life, but it just felt like an ordinary day at school and wasn’t anything special.
Everyday was the same thing over and over again, and although I did have fun at times it was very different and more challenging than middle school. Having communication skills also matters a lot. You will find people who are genuine in their conversations and will get upset if you do or say something multiple times; and there are a lot of people who get mad at any trendy jokes.
I used to think having a lot of friends was cool, but now being in high school I realize having close and good friends matters more than the variety of friends you could have.
Although freshman year is coming to an end, I will say that there is so much about it that I loved and hated.
There was so much more acceptance in high school rather than middle school, and that’s what I loved most about high school. You can be yourself around anyone, even if you get a couple of looks, who cares? You get to experience 1 of the most important 4 years of your life, which is freshman year. Being able to be friends with people older than you can also be a good experience and benefit since they know so much more than you do.
If I were to give any advice to anyone, it would be to be yourself no matter who you’re with, what could happen, and who will judge you. Being yourself is one of the best things that you can do for yourself and others. I will also say to choose your friends wisely and to always be honest with everyone even if you dislike them. Freshman year can determine a lot for you so it’s best to just be yourself and live life to the fullest.
