Taylor Swift announces her 12th studio album, making fans wonder, is a new tour in the making?
Recently Swift was a guest star on the New Heights Podcast, where she announced “The Life of a Showgirl” out for everyone to listen on October 3rd. However she just recently finished her famous “Eras Tour” that went on for over a year and a half. That tour included over 40 songs and was over 3 hours long! However, the new album is confirmed to have only 12 tracks, no deluxe edition or bonus tracks, confirmed by Taylor Swift. This makes fans wonder, will she go on tour for 12 songs?
And so, the swifties begin to dig. Sabrina Carpenter is announced to be featured on the albums 12th track, and she is also confirmed to be a 2025 VMA’s live performer. Will Swift be a surprise guest and sing a song with Carpenter? The VMA’s date is currently September 7th 2025, which means that if Taylor were to perform a song from her new album, it would be a whole month before the album is officially released. It’s unlikely that Swift will sing a song before the album is released, since she didn’t release a single before her previous album was released.
Another “easter egg” that fans have noticed is Taylor Nation’s (the official Taylor Swift marketing team) Instagram bio. When the album was first announced their bio read, “Setting the stage…,” but now currently reads, “Stage Crew for Taylor Swift.” Now this could be taken one of two ways; either it’s a pun considering the title of the album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” or it could be interpreted as a potential sign for a new tour.
I took it upon myself to interview a couple different students about their opinions on this subject. I first questioned Evalyn Garcia-Arciga, a freshman here at Pitman. When asked how she felt about the album being announced she replied happily, “It was like 10pm and I found out and I screamed and I woke up my whole family cause they thought I was being murdered. Yeah, I’m really excited, I watched the whole podcast. I don’t even like podcasts like that, but I watched it cause it had her [Taylor Swift] in it. I was really excited.”
When asked her opinion about Taylor Swift being a surprise guest with Sabrina Carpenter at the VMA’s, Evalyn replied confidently, “I really hope so, I don’t know, I like to clown a lot, but yeah. You know what, yeah, I’m gonna put my chest to it. I think so, I think so. I think it’s gonna happen.”
When asked the most important question, if she thinks that Swift will go on tour for her upcoming album Evalyn replied very happily, “Yes! Yes! I think so! If she doesn’t go on tour for ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ I’m gonna cry. Yes. I think so.”
Along with Evalyn I also interviewed Sasha Magoon, a freshman here at Pitman. I asked her the same set of questions I had previously asked Evalyn. She replied to my question about the album immediately, “Okay, I am so excited. I love that she announced it with Travis [Kelce] like that was just so meaningful and he knew about it. He is such a good gatekeeper! Like I’m honestly really surprised.”
I then asked Sasha if she thought Taylor Swift would perform at the VMA’s as a guest star, “I hope she does, because why else would they be doing it [making a song together] at the same time at the same place?”
Lastly, I asked her if she thought a new tour was coming soon, “I think there have already been four more tours, including this [The Life of a Showgirl tour] you know? Cause she [Taylor Swift] is just popping songs out of nowhere. She said that she was doing this [writing a new album] while she was still on tour. I thought she was still in ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ era, so I feel like Taylor has like the next 10 years worth of albums stocked up.”
I then interviewed Melanie Babayoo, also a freshman here at Piman, and asked her what her thoughts were on the subject. When asked how she felt about the album being announced, she replied with, “I am super excited, I literally jumped gleefully when I heard. I’m super excited and it’s my new motivation to keep going.”
Next I asked her if she thought we would get a surprise guest appearance from Taylor Swift at the VMA’s. “Yeah, I think she will. I think it would be a surprise thing and she would like pop out on the stage and surprise us all.”
Finally, I asked if she thought a new Taylor Swift tour was in the making. “Yes, I think there is one. I feel like right after the album release she’s gonna like release the tour dates.”
Overall, there is definitely reason to believe that a new Taylor Swift tour could be coming soon. If the tour does get announced I am sure that swifties will be very happy and it will be a great success.
