Over these past few summers, The Summer I Turned Pretty has gained many watchers and has created many different opinions and views. The show includes the main character, Belly, and her two love interests, Conrad and Jeremiah. These 3 characters see each other almost every summer and go through different journeys. However as the show continues on, there are many arguments that have been created between viewers. One main argument that is going on right now is who is better for Belly, Jeremiah or Conrad? Each summer, this show gets more and more attention. The real question though is why is the show so popular?
Many people have many different opinions on the show and what makes the show so special to them. Whether that be because of the relatable themes, the love triangle, or the way we get to see all of the characters point of views. Paige Jajko, 10th grader at Pitman High says, “The Summer I Turned Pretty is so popular because it shows a theme of love and friendships throughout the show. It also shows self discovery that the character makes as they grow older and figure out their paths”. She also stated, “I’m Team Conrad”.
On the other hand, Clarissa Vallejo, 11th grader at Pitman High says, “The Summer I Turned Pretty is special to me because it’s a love triangle drama. Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah’s storyline keeps people hooked and makes fans pick teams”. She had also stated, “In my opinion, I’m team Jeremiah because you know, everybody is going for Conrad, why not go for your boy Jeremiah?”. With these two points of views, we get different opinions and different reasons on what makes the show so special. We also get to see that not everyone has the same opinions on who is the best brother.
Even though the show is beginning to come to an end, there are still arguments all over social media about Belly and her love interests. Soon, we will be able to see which brother Belly chooses or if she even chooses a brother at all. No matter what the ending is, there will always still be arguments and disagreements about how the show should’ve ended, which will very clearly tell us why so many are interested in watching this coming of age show.
