There’s a lot of controversy surrounding health in today’s world.
Of course, there are health nuts that will announce that almost everything is bad for health purposes. There are companies and businesses that will try to sell their health programs and plans. There are the people that will say that it doesn’t matter as long as it leads to happiness.
And then there’s the majority of people who want to be healthy and happy but haven’t yet figured out who’s right. One thing that’s important to remember? Everything in moderation.
Oftentimes, on the internet, a lot of fearmongering is had about certain foods. Some influencers will call different foods chemical because of their makeup, which is, most usually, completely safe to eat.
On the internet, one might also hear about the dangers of candy, chocolate, and anything sugary at all. In fact, sugar is not as unhealthy as people are led to believe.
Everything has sugar in it naturally, including all fruits and vegetables, and yet it is still recommended that added sugars are put into a person’s diet in small amounts each day. It is recommended that a person have no more than 6 tablespoons of added sugar for a calorie count of around 2,000 for a female and 9 tablespoons of the same calorie count for a male. This means sugar that is placed intentionally into a food, not sugar that is naturally existing within it.
This is for the main purpose that a human mind runs on sugar. It is quick to give energy and fuel for the brain to work, which is why it’s alright to have a certain amount of sugar.
Many of the things that have been said about sugar are true. Too much sugar is definitely unhealthy. However, it is important to remember that this does not make all sugar “bad,” instead it means being able to have self control and to track oneself well enough to know when one has had too much.
One example of moderation when it comes to health is chocolate. Chocolate is considered unhealthy by most people who pay attention to their own health. This is not quite true.
Though too much chocolate can be harmful, chocolate, consumed in a small amount, can, in fact, decrease stress levels. It might also help with cognitive function, depending on the level of cacao within the chocolate. It is also shown to boost mood and make people happier overall.
As well, working out can be healthy, but without moderation, can become an unhealthy practice. Working out essentially breaks down muscles so that they can rebuild themselves stronger than before. Overdoing it, or not resting properly, may hinder the rebuilding process and cause health issues that may be severe in the future.
This goes for practically anything regarding health and health benefits, other than what is scientifically proven to kill people. When it comes to food and health practices, a little bit of everything can be good, it’s overdoing or not getting enough of something that becomes the problem.
