On Monday, October 20, 2025, Pitman Girls Golf won CCAL for the very first time. The team played at Creekside Golf Course against several different teams and had one of their best performances as a team overall. The team continued on to Divisionals all together and junior Clarissa Vallejo continued on to Masters afterward. The team are all very excited to have made Girls Golf history at Pitman. So, I decided to interview the Girls Golf team and had them answer 5 different questions to understand how they feel.
One very important question I had asked was what did you do to prepare for this moment? Over this season, all of the girls had worked so hard to get to this point and had continued to practice to be fully prepared for this moment. This question helps us get a better understanding of how the team worked to get to where they are now.
Sophomore Layla Alvarez stated, “To prepare for this tournament, I practiced every day at the country club for about 3 hours.”
All the girls were all so dedicated to this sport and had done everything they could to prepare for this moment. Obviously, all of that hard work had paid off and had led them to making history for Pitman Girls Golf.
Another question I had asked was how did you feel about making history at Pitman? Obviously for anyone, making it to this point is very exciting and a very important milestone. For the first time in Pitman’s Girls Golf history, all of these girls are equally excited.
Junior Amaya Singh explained, “I think it’s pretty cool that we’re getting the banner for the first time like ever. Considering most sports but us have one.”
For Singh, and for the rest of the team, getting a banner for the first time in Pitman Girls Golf history was very important and a very huge achievement. Sometime towards the end of the school year, the team should be getting their first ever banner in the gym.
One other question I asked was what was your favorite match and/or tournament of the season? The girls golf team has several different matches and tournaments during their season. From the Turlock match to the Midseason tournament, many amazing memories were created for the team. The girls on the team all have their own opinions on which matches and tournaments were better than others. However, all of the matches and tournaments were always so exciting and memorable for the team.
Senior Lexi Jeans said, “My favorite match was against Turlock because although they are competition, it felt like we were playing for fun! My favorite tournament was divisionals because I got to play with some great people and I was able to PR!”
Another question I wanted to ask was what was your favorite moment from the tournament? Again, so many different, amazing, and fun memories are created throughout the season for this team. Just during the CCAL tournament, plenty of memories were created that the girls will remember forever.
Sophomore Paige Jajko stated, “My favorite moment from the tournament was watching our team’s reaction to us winning.”
When finding out the team won the CCAL tournament, there was so much excitement between all the girls, parents, and coaches. As a team, all the girls will remember this moment for the rest of their lives. Winning the CCAL tournament for the first time was such an amazing and happy moment for the whole team.
The last question I wanted to ask was what are the plans and goals for next season? This season was such an important and fun season for the girls. However, next season is going to be just as amazing for these girls and they will continue to work hard and go such a long way. Having this season being such an eventful season, I wanted to see what the team was planning on for next season.
Junior Clarissa Vallejo explained, “My goals for next season are to continue improving and repeat the success we had this year while helping my team take the next step. I want us to win another CCAL, advance to sections, and most importantly, qualify for Masters together as a team.”
Overall, the team had such a great season and had worked so hard to be where they are now. Winning CCAL for the first time in Pitman Girls Golf history was such a turning point for this team and it is very obvious that they will continue to do great next season. Seeing what this team is going to do next season and what their plans and goals are is so exciting and we cannot wait to see how next season goes for them.
