Consistently, Invincible has been a hit since its debut in 2021. The show takes the audience into the world of superheroes, but not the kind you’d think. It showed the audience that superheroes, similar to another Prime Video original The Boys, can be a dark genre.
As for Season 4 of Invincible, the show managed to take it to a whole new level. It introduced several characters, including Thragg, the main antagonist of the season. Not only this, but it developed character arcs that fans and critics both adored, such as the Omni-Man arc. The development of the characters seemed to be building up immensely for the next few seasons, and the fans are excited.
The critics have always loved Invincible, as shown by the consistent 90% or higher Rotten Tomatoes rating for every season. Seasons 2, 3, and 4 all have 100% ratings, which is a crazy accomplishment! To put that into perspective, Season 4 of Game of Thrones (widely considered the best in the series) has a 97% rating. It just goes to show that the writers know how to turn the comics into an entertaining show.
The season opens months after the deadly fight with Conquest, which as the Invincible fans know, was an awesome fight to see. Not only was destruction insane, but so was the gore. By episode 6, Conquest is back, and the rematch was even more crazy. The show manages to get the audience to be grossed out, despite it being animated.
Speaking of fans, after an interview with Marrtez Portis (11th) right after he finished the finale of Season 4, he said, “Thragg is an absolute threat. And the Conquest rematch was somehow even worse than the first fight.”
Despite some complaining that there was too much “filler”, even the filler episode was pretty good. With the complex story of Invincible, it’s bound to have filler in order to set up new plots, almost every show has done it.
The overall experience of Season 4 was just amazing. The animation could have been better, but the characters, plot, and fights were high stakes and fantastic to watch. Season 4 is definitely worth watching!
