The Newsies play performed by Pitman High School will be taking place this Spring of 2026.
There are a variety of cast members from different grade levels in drama, or advanced theatre class.
Newsies is a high-energy Disney musical based

on the 1899 Newsboys Strike in NYC, featuring music by Alan Menken and a book by Harvey Fierstein. The plot follows charismatic leader Jack Kelly, who rallies fellow newsboys against unfair price hikes by publishing giants like Pulitzer. It is famous for acrobatic dancing and the anthem “Seize the Day”.

Interviews
I will now interview my little sister Mary Jane Dever(10th) who has the role of a Brooklyn Newsie in the play.
Dana Miracle Dever: “How did you like your role in the play?”
Mary Jane Dever: “I honestly really liked it since it was my first time being in a play as a beginning theater. My role, we were like the tough ones so everyone needed us to go on strike. So it was really cool, it was really fun.”
Dana Miracle Dever: “What was your favorite part of the play?”
Mary Jane Dever: “My favorite part was when we all came together for the finale, the finale dance. It was really beautiful. Then also after when we went on stage to say goodbye. It was amazing.”
Thank you Mary for your feedback.
I will now interview Jude Killian(11th) who played “Snyder” in the Newsies Play.
Dana Miracle Dever: “How did you like your role in the play?”
Jude Killian: “I really enjoyed it. I mean, it’s probably like the best role in the play for me, like the way I like to act. I like intense characters, and I thought Snyder was a really big fit for me.”
Dana Miracle Dever: “What was your favorite part of the play?”
Jude Killian: “My favorite part of the play, probably “King of New York”. I really like when they were tap dancing. I know that was probably the most difficult one for everybody, but it was really cool. And the audience loved it. So that was really cool.”
Thank you Jude for your responses.
The Pitman High School Newsies Play lasted five days (April 17th, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th) and it was a huge success. Once the shows finished, closing night was a very emotional and happy night while finishing off a short lived chapter. Thank you to the Pitman Crew, Cast, and Production team for making this happen. Go Newsies!
