Leina Curnutte (9th), Reporter
Hello there! I am in 9th grade, freshman year, and my name is Leina Curnutte. Yes, people do say my name wrong. Like a lot. Pronunciation: Lay-nuh. NOT Lee-nuh. I have had too many people say lee-nuh, so if you see me around, please, for the love of my name, say Lay-nuh. My last name is said as follows: Cr-noot. Anyways, I have many hobbies I like to do. I love drawing, doodling, and sketching, along with going on walks. One thing you NEED to know is that I LOVE Spongebob. Don’t ask why, don’t ask when, don’t ask how, he’s just a funky little sea creature and I love him. Another thing that almost no one knows is that I have a certain mental disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome. If you don’t know what it is, it is basically like blinking, well, not really, but stay with me now. Try not to blink. For as long as you can. You are doing what’s called “suppressing.” Stay with me now. You are holding in the need to blink. The more you hold your eyes open, the more you feel uncomfortable, right? Stay with me now. I do things called “tics.” No, not the bugs, the little actions I do. Stay with me now. For example, my most recent tic is whistling. I can suppress them for only a short amount of time. If you see my tics and someone else’s, you will see… EVERYONE’S. TICS. ARE. DIFFERENT. I can’t stress that enough. Stay with me now. I have many tics, but I won’t list them all. It is also a bit like stimulating yourself by fidgeting. I can’t control it, either, like the way you can’t control your urge to blink. You can research about it if you want to know more, but that’s all I have for you. Another thing I do is go off topic. A lot. I will talk about the ceiling, and the next thing you know, I am talking about lawn mowers. Other than those things, I am a very nice person. I might look mad while walking through the hallways, but trust me, I don’t bite. I love making new friends, so don’t be shy, I got you. So, that’s mostly about me. I hope you have an amazing day / afternoon / evening / night and I hope to see you around PHS!
