The Hewlett- Packard Company was an American global information company founded in a one-car garage by William Redington Hewlett and David Packard in Palo Alto on January 1st, 1939.

They develop many PCs as well as a wide variety of hardware components.

Some of the software they sell besides PCs are mobile apps, business service management software, and other professional services

In 1938, HP invented their first product known as the HP model 200A. It was used to test sound equipment.

Right now, HP Inc’s CEO is Meg Whitman, who currently has a net worth of 2.2 billion USD. She graduated at Harvard business school in 1979.

As of 2015, they have an estimated 302,000 employees. HP’s revenue as of 2014 is $111.454 billion.

The company was the world’s leading PC manufacturer from 2007 to 2013. Beforehand Lenovo remained ranked ahead of HP. Lenovo similar to HP specialized in manufacturing computing, data storage, and networking hardware.

HP produced many other products and electronics besides PCs. Some of the products include Inkjet and LaserJet printers, Snapfish, which is a photo sharing service, and LightScribe, which is an optical recording technology.

In November 2007, HP released an update called BIOS covering a lot of laptops and computers with the intent to speed up the fans inside of them. This was to prevent overheating of the GPU.

In 2009, HP faced an action lawsuit over its i7 processor. Customers complained that it locked up their computers within just 30 minutes of powering on.

They have created new chromebooks with optional 4GB of ram and 1080P display. It has no fan and it has a Celeron processor so it will be quite.

HP has/had much sponsorship, including a shirt sponsor of the soccer team Tottenham Hotspur in England, from 1995 to 1999 and again from 2013. They also sponsored the BMW Williams Formula one team until 2005.

Just recently, on November 3rd, 2015 HP split into two companies. Now there is HP Inc. which will sell personal computers and printers and Hewlett Packard Enterprise which will sell commercial computer systems, as well as tech and software services.

Because of the split into two companies, HP will cut up to 30,000 jobs, which is about 10% of the workforce.

HP expects to release the HP Pavilion Gaming notebook on November 8th, 2015. It will give gamers the horsepower and the intense graphics at an affordable price.

Their culture is known as “The HP Way”. This means that they have trust and respect for individuals, focus on a high level of achievement, conduct their business with uncompromising integrity, achieve their common objectives through teamwork, and they encourage flexibility and innovation.

Since HP split into two, one will have to see how both businesses do. One can only hope that they both become successful.
