After Trump’s temporary travel ban on Syrian refugees and suspension of America’s refugee program, Starbucks responded by attempting to hire 10,000 refugee workers in Starbucks locations around the world over the next five years.

This mass hiring of workers is said to start in the United States written in a letter by chairman and CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz. He says that the primary focus will be on hiring immigrants “ who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and military personnel.”

Schultz also states that coffee growers in Mexico will be seeing much aid due to the restructuring of trade agreements and building of the wall and support them with health insurance as of the repeal of Obama Care.

With this attempt at aiding refugees, Schultz and his associates are definitely receiving criticism from many right wingers in favor of Trump’s proposals.

Conservative claim homeless veterans who fought for our freedom, with no help from Veteran’s Affairs, deserve these jobs over immigrants. They question the true motives of liberals when we have thousands of homeless people in our own backyard who need a source of employment.

Pamela Moore states on Twitter, “Hiring 10K refugees makes liberals feel warm But we have homeless veterans who need those jobs. #BoycottStarbucks #ReasontoProtest #MuslimBan”

Schultz never announced that the company will not hire vets, but because these jobs will be dispersed throughout 75 countries veterans will only be able to acquire jobs in America.

The last time Starbucks was boycotted was in November 2016 where customers proclaimed the company’s christmas cups were not “christmas-y” enough according to Eater.com and many consumers alike.

The repercussions of this volt of refugee employment has dropped Starbucks stock, but most likely will not endanger the company’s well being. That is unless President Trump decides to terminate the company for hiring immigrants.

Like boycotts before them, the long term effect will not be significant. Much like the revolt of customers who did not support green christmas cups made to resemble a christmas tree.

The ravenous tweets will continue to present themselves, but experts highly doubt protesters will be motivated to go into action about the hiring of 10,000 refugees over the next few years.
