Some have been hearing a lot about the new burger joint in town, The Habit Burger. Some say it’s better than In-N-Out, and others simply say that it’s pretty good. Although it was very busy when I went, the line went by quickly. When we reached the register, I asked one of the employees, Rebecca, what the Habit’s most popular food item was, and she told me, “One of our most popular items is the Santa Barbara Char and the #1 which is the Charburger meal.”

Rebecca was very nice and seemed to know a lot about the sales and what customers liked, which is a good quality for employees to have, in case a customer is having trouble deciding on what to get.

The restaurant itself was fairly clean, although throughout the kitchen I did notice a few fries scattered here and there. One of the main issues I noticed was that when customers were waiting for their food, there wasn’t really anywhere to wait inside – unless you wanted to go outside in the 100 degree weather. When we got the food we took it home because it was so busy. We came home and opened the wrapper to see a sloppy mess. The bun was separated from the rest of the burger and the sauce was everywhere. A quick heads up for if you want to take your meal to-go: expect it to be very messy.

Although it was a bit sloppy, the food was very good. Chrishael Sanchez, a student (grade 9) here at Pitman High said, “During the grand opening, The Habit was hectic with all the tables full, but they managed to provide great food that was fairly inexpensive compared to other restaurants.” As time has gone by though, the prices have gone up. The price for the #1 meal is $7.35, and for just a Charburger alone it is $3.35, which seems like a lot compared to most places. Therefore, going to The Habit may be only a once in awhile visit for most people.

Overall, the atmosphere is great and the food is great, and it’s a cool place to just hang out after school with friends.
