From the trailer of “The Visit” one might assume it’s filled with predictable and unrealistic events including two young children, one a teenager, who have somewhat of a ‘strange’ visit with their grandparents. It does clearly fit into the horror genre having suspense as well as terrifying jump scares.

Young stars Olivia Dejone (Becca) and Ed Oxenbould (Tyler) make their debut by portraying as two eager children who are going to visit their grandparents for the very first time for one week expecting nothing but the most amazing, eye-opening experience but what they don’t expect is what actually happens.

Brooke and Tyler due to some circumstances are in need of a vacation with much help needed from their long lost grandparents. Doing a school project Brooke conveniently decides to film and document every activity her, her brother, and grandparents do along with interviewing both grandparents. Brooke catches some heartwarming moments but unexpectedly some disturbing moments as well.

To keep in touch with their mother while she is on vacation the children and their mom skype. After something strange happens with the grandparents the mother reassures them that they’re old, and there is nothing to worry about. After more questionable events Becca attempts persuade to her brother that everything is okay and that they only have to be there for a bit longer.

It is not until the mom informs the children about some very shocking news that will change everything. The kids would now need to fight for their lives with grandma and grandpa. Using every ounce of courage the children impatiently wait with hope that there mom will be there soon.

As the film reaches climax Brooke and Tyler will go through things they’ve never thought they would. The audience will surely think of this movie late at night and when visiting someone for the first time. This movie certainly goes into the horror genre but it’s innovative for its unique storyline and twists. While the aim of this movie is to scare in the end it helps teach the importance of family.
